Front Porch Digital Intros The BitStorm Broadcast Quality Real-Time(September 17, 2001)
Front Porch Digital made the announcement at IBC2001 -- the International Broadcasting Convention -- currently underway in Amsterdam.
BitStorm incorporates a powerful, scalable software-based architecture that maximizes conversion speed while reducing the processing required for the conversion of content from multiple analog and/or digital video sources to high-resolution quality digital formats. BitStorm may be used as a standalone system, or integrated with powerful video indexing and search engines and Front Porch Digital's BitScream transcoder suite as part of a larger end-to-end system for the archiving and real-time, on-demand distribution of digital content. BitScream's unique toolset allows users to transcode content stored in broadcast quality MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 formats, as well as Front Porch Digital's BitStorm Intermediate Archive Format (IAF) (an optimized form of MPEG-2), to multiple end user formats without the need to recapture content from the source material. In addition, the solution lowers economic and physical barriers to digital conversion, and avoids the costs of ongoing production and storing data in multiple formats and bitrates.
Other key features and advantages include:
processing, and automation templates. This enables process automation, ensuring a seamless, controlled workflow among archive subsystems for bulk video archiving.
