Freedom Bionics and Yaletown Capital Corp. Announce New and Expanded Family Awareness Applications for iPhone and Android-Based Smart Phones(May 04, 2011)
RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/04/11 -- Freedom Bionics ("Freedom", the "Company"), the wholly owned subsidiary of Yaletown Capital Corp. (TSX VENTURE: YCC), in collaboration with Cognitive Research Canada, announces a new Family Awareness Services Plan ("the Plan") for smart phone-based networks. This is the first service plan with "intelligent" software that brings situational awareness to family cell plans. Typically existing "family plans" only offer rate discounts. The Freedom Family Awareness Services Plan provides 24/7 capability to alert responsible adults and care givers to abnormal situations involving other family members. For example, it alerts when a family member may be involved in a car accident, has fallen, or generally may be at risk. Today's announcement builds on the Company's early technology developments disclosed in November 2010.
The full suite Family Awareness Services Plan comprises twelve service modules ("applications") to suit the needs of each family or extended family members including parents, teens, young children, seniors, and parent care givers.
Parents and adult care givers can activate Freedom's web-based and remote smart phone awareness application tools to stay connected with family members and know that they are safe. For children, the Plan offers services for three different age groups, covering applications which range from a GPS-based position of young children through to the safe-driving habits of teens. Applications for seniors can unobtrusively watch for trouble by monitoring daily energy activity levels, as well as detect falls.
Enhanced applications are in development for home awareness knowledge and encoded personal medical records. This will be of special assistance to seniors living alone, or children who are away from home, should they have a health related emergency.
Freedom's Family Awareness Services Plan includes the provision of a QR (quick response) code label for attaching to the back of a cell phone. The QR label carries the phone owner's securely encoded personal health information, important for emergency caregivers.
Freedom's Family Awareness Services Plan can provide peace of mind for a family of four for as little as fifty cents a day.
"We are very pleased that the basic Plan will be available during the fall of 2011, and extended services are scheduled to roll out during the first quarter of calendar 2012," said Douglas Kind, President & CEO of Freedom Bionics and Yaletown Capital Corp.
