Framestore CFC Receives BAFTA NominationNominated for ?The Day Today? DVD commissioned by BBC Worldwide (December 13, 2004)
Framestore CFC Design's work has been recognized with a nomination in the DVD category of the recently announced shortlist for the 2005 BAFTA Interactive Awards.
The first ever DVD version of 'The Day Today' shows was released in April 2004, and was commissioned by BBC Worldwide and produced by Talkback Productions. The two-DVD set comprised the original 6 'Day Today' shows, along with over 70 minutes of new and previously unreleased material. Extras included a selection of extended scenes, mini-news bulletins (used to promote the original shows), pilot material, commentaries, interviews, 'po-faced analysis', newly recorded material and other Easter Egg-type goodies.
Framestore CFC Design is a compact four-person team. Briefed by Armando Ianucci and Chris Morris, and with Talkback's Adam Tandy Producing, they came up with a set that looks and feels like a seamless extrapolation of a 'Day Today' episode, complete with ridiculously pompous computer graphics, self-important graphs and a general sense of news-overload.
This is the 7th BAFTA Interactive Awards. In 1997, BAFTA had the foresight to realise the impact Internet and multimedia technologies would have on the entertainment industry. The result was the creation of the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards. The event quickly grew into what was considered to be the world's largest and most prestigious interactive entertainment awards, recognising and rewarding creative talent in interactivity. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 2nd March at the Café Royal, London W1.
