Four-Channel Laptop Sound Card among Digigram Releases at AES 2001Also showing sound card with CobraNet capabilities (November 27, 2001)
In addition to the miXart8CN CobraNet input/output module for the miXart8 sound card and VXpocket 440, new Digigram offerings at the show will be EtherSpeaker networked speaker technology that creates audio networks using off-the-shelf Ethernet cabling and components, and NCX Suite, a new set of software tools that enables TCP/IP remote management of multi-zone networked audio.
Details on the previously announced joint effort between Digigram and Audio Precision to provide testing capabilities for professional audio sound cards, will be available at each company's booth, plus an opportunity to sign up for one of four VXpocket v2 to be given away at AES 2001.
Digigram EtherSpeaker v1.0, Networked Speaker Technology
EtherSpeaker v1.0 enhances established technologies to easily and economically create audio networks using standard Ethernet cabling and components. The EtherSpeaker V1.0 demonstration module is designed to connect a digital audio source to speakers. Up to 32 channels of 24-bit digital audio, plus control information, may be transported to a virtually infinite number of speakers. Networked speaker modules may be connected serially. A virtually unlimited number of modules may be daisy-chained. Modules may be up to 100 meters apart with no limitations on the distance between the first and last module in the chain. Because EtherSpeaker V1.0 is compatible with Ethernet 802.3 and 100BaseTX full-duplex standards, off-the-shelf Ethernet switches may be used to distribute EtherSpeaker transmissions to networked speaker demonstration modules.
Digigram NCX Suite, TCP/IP Remote Management of Multi-zone Networked Audio
The first product release of the Digigram Networked Audio Suite, NCX Suite provides simple, sophisticated control and easy configuration and management of multi-zone audio installation using NCX Ethernet audio terminals. Using a modular approach, the NCX Suite presents options for remote hardware configuration, automated scheduling of audio events, live announcements, recording of audio for later playback, networked storage of recorded audio, and more. All automated and live events can be managed from virtually anywhere. Also included are utilities for system design, configuration, and monitoring. NCX Suite modules control audio networks designed with NCX Ethernet audio terminals, which play, record and route audio across standard Ethernet networks. Systems typically play standard MPEG audio formats such as mp3.
Digigram VXpocket 440, Four Channel Laptop Soundcard
The VXpocket 440 is the latest in the line of award-winning Pocket family of PC cards designed for professional sound recording, editing, production and audio analysis on a laptop computer. The VXpocket 440 features four balanced analog inputs at microphone or line level, four balanced analog outputs, one stereo SPDIF input and output accommodating direct digital transfer, and an LTC (SMPTE) time-code input. Also provided is a breakout cable with XLR connectors for the analog inputs/outputs, phono (CINCH) connectors for digital and LTC, and mini-plug headphone output. The VXpocket 440, like its companion VXpocket v2 stereo card, offers 24-bit performance with PC applications using Microsoft s WAVE protocol, as well as PC and Mac applications using ASIO.
Digigram miXart8CN, CobraNet Input/Output Module for the miXart8 Soundcard
miXart is a unique platform, combining powerful Digigram onboard processing with comprehensive audio mixing functions. Peak Audios CobraNet is a widely used technology for distributing real-time audio over fast Ethernet. When connected to the wide range of third-party CobraNet-compliant devices, miXart8CN is the foundation of powerful audio systems distributed over large-area networks. The core of the system, the miXart8, has eight mono (or four stereo) analog input/output paths, including four studio-quality microphone preamps on its input bank. The CobraNet interface is managed via a daughterboard, yet only a single PCI slot is needed in the host computer. Eight channels of CobraNet input and eight channels of CobraNet output are provided, operating independently of the analog inputs/outputs.
