FotoKem Purchases Second Imagica Film Scanner

Upgrades first scanner to newest model for scanning and DI needs (August 10, 2004)

IMAGICA Corp., the leader in film scanners, announced today that the newest film scanner in its product line, the IMAGER XE -ADVANCED, has been purchased by FotoKem. The new IMAGER XE -ADVANCED is two times the production speed of the current IMAGER XE, and incorporates the latest in high quality scanning technology that IMAGICA has developed. In addition, FotoKem has upgraded its current IMAGICA IMAGER XE to the new ADVANCED model.

FotoKem is a large, independently owned film & video post-production facility based in Burbank, CA, which has been operating for over 41 years. FotoKem is a unique full service motion picture and video post-production facility combining full-scale laboratory services with advanced electronic post-production services. The laboratory offers 65/70mm, 35mm and 16mm film processing, answer prints and release prints, digital intermediates, preservation and restoration of both film and video elements, telecine, duplication, large format scanning and recording, and Hi-Def transfers. FotoKem also provides creative editorial finishing for long form television and theatrical motion pictures along with tape-to-film transfer, audio services including audio restoration, and DVD pre-mastering.

The purchase and upgrade of the IMAGER XE ADVANCED scanners by FotoKem increases their larger DI capability four fold and positions their 4K DI pipe line in perfect place to meet the latest demands in the industry. The IMAGER XE -ADVANCED scans 4096 pixels across a 35mm Academy frame and provides Cineon format with full RGB color space (14bit A/D). The IMAGER XE - ADVANCED scans 2 seconds per frame for 2K and 4 seconds per frame for 4K with a new 5K- camera system.
