Fort Hood bomb plot suspect wears mask in court

Soldier accused of spitting wears mask as jury chosen in his Fort Hood bomb plot federal trial By The Associated Press

WACO, Texas (AP) ' A jury has been seated in the federal trial of a soldier accused of planning to bomb Ford Hood troops.

Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo wore a mask covering his nose and mouth all day Monday during the jury selection in a Texas courtroom.

He's been accused of biting through his lip and spitting blood on authorities escorting him after a court hearing last month.

His defense attorney, Zachary Boyd, asked potential jurors earlier Monday if they had a problem with Abdo's mask. Nobody raised a hand.

Authorities have declined to comment on why Abdo was wearing a mask.

Opening statements are scheduled to start Tuesday.

Abdo is accused of planning to bomb a Killeen restaurant filled with Fort Hood soldiers and shoot any survivors last summer.
