Version 2.1 adds menu design, improves processing performance By Dave Nagel
Formac has updated its Devideon software to version 2.1. Devideon is a Macintosh-based DVD authoring application designed specifically for Formac's Devideon Superdrive external DVD burner. The new version adds a number of new features, including menu design capabilities, and is available as a free update for current users.

According to Formac, Devideon 2.1 adds chaptering and menu design; parallel encoding to increase processing speed; a Devideon screen saver to speed up processing; support for SVCD; improved audio synchronization; use of YUV colorspace when encoding DV footage; interlace detection; contextual menus; and a user-defined maximum number of encoding processes.

Devideon 2.1 is available now for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. The drive itself is a FireWire-based combination drive for burning DVDs and CDs. It supports all Macintosh models with FireWire and sells for $399. For more information, visit
