Formac Unveils New LCD Line19? Gallery Xtreme for $599, 20? for $899 (October 19, 2004)
Formac's Gallery 2010 Xtreme
"The pricing of the new Gallery Xtreme will create some sensation in the Macintosh market," said Robert Altmann, Director of Business Development at Formac Inc. "However, when developing the next generation of Gallery displays, it was Formacs main goal to ensure the technological lead over its competitors. The new generation of TFTs and Formacs digital graphics technology ensure this objective.
Like its predecessor the new Gallery Xtreme is targeted at the creative professional working in color-critical applications. Both display versions incorporate the 4th generation of Formacs ColorProof VA TFT with industry-leading values for brightness (300 cd/m2 for the 20.1, 280 cd/m2 for the 19) and contrast ratio (700:1), the key specification determining a displays color gamut. To ensure accurate color calibration the Gallery Xtreme features Formacs AllRound conical viewing technology that delivers consistent color information to the calibration device from any angle. AllRound solves the common problem of gray scale inversion or color distortion at off-axis angles, apparent with standard horizontal & vertical viewing angle technologies. In conjunction with Formacs proprietary digital graphics technology the display achieves an unrivaled color purity of EBU 100% (European Broadcast Union), Video professionals will benefit from the industrys fastest pixel response (15ms), delivering smooth full-motion digital video playback without ghosting and distortions.
Formacs Gallery 1900 Xtreme features a SXGA resolution of 1,280 by 1,024, and a physical screen size that is comparable to a 20 wide-screen LCD. The Gallery 2010 Xtreme comes with a native UXGA resolution of 1,600 by 1,200. Its higher pixel count and 4:3 screen ratio provides 10% more workspace than a 20 wide-screen LCD.
The design of the Gallery Xtreme implements a new color language, focusing on requirements in the creative professional market. Bezel and feet are now in an elegant black color, perfect for viewing and referencing colors. The award-winning design also features two USB-ports on the back of the display for connection of keyboard and mouse. The patented Formac Display Connector (FDC) combines power, USB and graphics signal in one cable to the display, reducing cable clutter on the desktop to a minimum. Formacs Gallery Xtreme is Mac and PC compatible and can be connected via DVI or ADC connector.
