Focusrite Intros ISA 220 Session Pack and Trak Master at AES
The company also will exhibit its entire line of analog signal processors at its AES booth (#576). Among these are the award winning Platinum, Red, and TEC-nominated ISA Range products.
ISA 220 is a single channel analog processor contained in a 2U, 19 rackmount enclosure, designed to provide audio professionals in music and post with a complete channel strip of legendary Focusrite processing at a competitive price point. Based on the topology of the TEC award-nominated ISA 430 Producer Pack, ISA 220 shares a number of similar processing functions with its big brother.Trak Master is a single channel analog processor contained in a rugged 1U,19 rackmount chassis that the company says sets a new price/performance standard for project studio owners and serious recording musicians.
ISA 220 Session Pack
ISA 220 starts with the classic Focusrite transformer-coupled microphone preamp plus line and instrument inputs with phantom power and phase reverse. The next section consists of a four- band EQ plus high-pass and low-pass filters based on the EQ circuits from the ISA 430. The compressor features a proprietary Class A VCA and side-chain circuitry and can easily be placed before the EQ in signal flow if desired. The compressor also includes a unique new ?Blend feature ?providing a means of achieving smoother compression at extreme settings by mixing some of the uncompressed signal along with the compressed portion. Following the compressor is an opto-based de-esser,which uses a combination of EQ and phase cancellation for a smoother, less obtrusive de-esser than conventional designs. Last but not least, a frequency adaptive, 3-band limiter is provided for distortion-free limiting. Each ISA 220 processing section includes individual bypass switches as well as a master bypass for the entire signal path.
For visual reference, ISA 220 provides a classic analog VU meter and can be switched to display input or compressor gain-reduction levels. A pair of 16 segment LED meters is included to display output levels in conjunction with the optional A/D output card. A complement of XLR and 1/4 TRS jacks are provided on the rear panel for microphone input, line input/output,key input to the compressor, etc. A 1/4 TRS instrument input jack is also provided on the front of the unit.
An optional 24-bit /96 kHz digital output (AES/EBU,S/PDIF &TOSLINK) offers 44.1-96 kHz operation, 16-, 20- and 24-bit resolution selection, and can lock to external Word Clock, including Pro Tools Super Clock. It can be used as a high-quality mono/stereo tracking converter, or at mixdown as a stereo converter for final mastering.
Trak Master is a single channel analog processor contained in a rugged 1U,19 rackmount chassis that according to Focusrite sets a new price/performance standard for project studio owners and serious recording musicians. The unit includes the following sections: discrete Class A mic/line/instrument preamp with phantom power and high-pass filter, optical compressor, a newly designed 3-band EQ,and a master output level control. The compressor and EQ sections can be individually bypassed and the compressor can be switched to follow the EQ in signal flow if desired. The EQ includes switched presets on both the low and high bands that have been optimized for either vocal or instrumental work.Trak Master also includes Focusrites unique Tube Sound circuit that allows users to emulate the sonic characteristics of tube-based devices.
Trak Master s microphone and instrument inputs are accessed via a front panel XLR and 1/4 TRS connector, respectively. Located on the rear panel, line input/output are provided via 1/4 TRS jacks and are operable at 10 dBV or +4 dBu. Optionally,Trak Master can be fitted with a 24-bit/96kHz A/D card that can be connected to digital devices in the studio.A BNC style connector is also provided on the rear panel for external Word Clock sync and the front panel includes a ?lock LED to indicate clock lock.
Trak Master is expected to ship in December and will carry an MSRP of $450 (USD).The optional 24-bit/96 kHz A/D board will follow and will have an MSRP of $250 (USD).
