Flurry StudiosAnimation studio is ready for 2008 (January 03, 2008)
What do Mattel, Fox Network, Wacky World Studios and United Media have in common? They all turn to Flurry Studios in Minneapolis, MN for outstanding visual effects. Who wouldn't enjoy working with a team of artists that love what they do, and have tons of fun doing it?
The team at Flurry has worked together for years, pushing the envelope of creative animation design and production, but it was only in February of 2007 that they hung their own sign. Each of the principals took a risk, putting down their own capital so the agency could open on day one with the right digital infrastructure. Flurry Studios expertise in computer animation is coupled with a technical environment that lets them create, design and produce innovative 3D and character animation for commercials, direct to home videos, television and print.
Recently, the team at Flurry has completed some spots that we'll have a chance to talk about in the new year, as well as some really fun projects that are coming up.
Flurry Studios professional team relies on project management tools and a shared storage environment to streamline their creative processes and close the gaps between concept and deliverable. Their digital heartbeat comes from a TerraBlock shared storage network which feeds two compositing stations running FusionŽ and using animation tools of LightwaveŽ and Maya for 3D animation and rendering. Flurry has one of the most complete HD systems outside of New York and Los Angeles.
Two other currents are also shared throughout the Flurry system: a true passion for work and a commitment to the community. For example, principals at the firm work with local students to advise them on their portfolios, identify internship opportunities and train them on project management. Interns at Flurry Studios become part of the production pipeline, helping to infuse creativity and fresh ideas while learning valuable skills.
How do they get it all done? Well, I'll have a chance to catch up with them as soon as the CES and MacWorld craziness blows over... and also give them a chance to "cool off" from all of the great weather they've been having (EMERGENCY SNOW ALERT IN EFFECT!)
