Fluid Editorial Adds smoke/flame Artist Victor MeltonMelton comes to FLUID with strong design, compositing and visual effects skills (November 14, 2005)
Victor Melton, a smoke*/flame* artist with a wealth of experience in commercials, documentaries, independent features, music videos and broadcast graphics, has joined the FLUID Editorial team, it was announced today by Managing Partner Marc Schwartz.
Melton comes to FLUID with strong design, compositing and visual effects skills. At Wild Blue Pictures/POV Editing and Visual Effects (Houston, Texas) he spent the past 3˝ years as a Digital Effects Artist and Online Editor working on Discreet Fire, Smoke and Flame. He worked on a wide range of projects including effects driven commercials for Ford, KFC, Time Warner Cable, Popeyes, HP, BP, Shell, Art Institute, Reliant Energy, Momentum BMW and ABC 13, among others; and numerous indie films and music video as well.
Melton hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and, prior to his move to the United States in 2002, was, for over ten years, a much in demand graphics designer and editor at the major post houses including Profilms/Videocolor and Post-Biónica where he collaborated with major agencies and production companies on innumerable commercials (Coca Cola, Visa, Renault, Telecom, Repsol/YPF, Ford, Citroen, Tang and Movicom, among others), music videos, documentaries, and promotion and programming packages. Earlier in his career, he worked at Aeiou Multimedia, Arco Iris Producciones and F&F SA Imagen y Comunicacion.
?It was a difficult position to fill. We were looking for someone who could handle everything our offline editors (and their clients) could throw into our smoke*/flame*finishing studio. From basic conforms to graphic design and complex layered effects and composites, Victor can do it all and he is a nice guy on top of that, said Marc Schwartz. ?He
is a digital artist who specializes in smoke* and flame* but is equally comfortable with After Effects, and most other graphics production applications.
?At FLUID I have a greater range of creative possibilities than I have ever experienced professionally. The agency market in Houston is small and I felt that there was little room for me to grow there, explained Melton of his move to New York and FLUID. ?I see myself as a designer who, over the last 15 years, has developed a very broad palette and has the skills to utilize a number of different tools to achieve the clients vision. At FLUID I can bring all my talents to bear. For example, the room I am working in has both flame* and smoke* so if I need to edit I can use smoke*, and if I need heavy effects I can switch to flame*, and, when necessary, I am perfectly happy to work on After Effects. I appreciate the strengths of each different tool. Equipment becomes obsolete very quickly so having expertise on these different tools works to the clients advantage and allows me to be my most creative.
Victor Melton has already worked on several jobs under the FLUID banner for clients such as Saatchi & Saatchi, The American Petroleum Institute, DKNY Perfume and Paper Mate Profile pens for Geppetto Group.
Victor Melton has joined the editorial division of FLUID which includes Editor/Designer Alex Frowein; Editors Bruce Ashley, Greg Letson and Scott Philbrook; Assistant Editors Christian Pulfer, Nikki Passerella, Michael Equi and Zeke ODonnell; Managing Partner/Executive Producer Marc Schwartz; and Editorial Producers Virginia Galvan and Rasha C. Hamilton, all of whom are represented in-house by Jessica Millington.
Melton earned his degree in graphic design at the University of Buenos Aires. He is married and makes his home in Park Slope in Brooklyn, NY.
