'Flame of Surrender' Offers Young Adults Suspense-Filled Romantic Fantasy

(March 27, 2012)

TAMPA, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 03/27/12 -- Rhiannon Paille's debut fantasy novel "Flame of Surrender" (yafantasyauthor.com) targets young adults with a story of impossible love -- and profound danger.

"It's Romeo and Juliet meets 'Lord of the Rings,'" says Paille, 27, an indie author with a heart for young readers and promoting teen literacy. "It isn't dystopian, but in terms of darker teen novels, it's right up there. I wanted to give them a novel that respects their intelligence and maturity and appeals to their love of fantasy."

The protagonists are a boy and girl whose destinies were never intended to intersect. Krishani is a teenager with an uncontrolled ability to influence the weather. He is destined to spend his life as a guide to the dead, a Ferryman. Kaliel's a Flame, an enchanting girl who possesses the ability to ignite an apocalypse. The two fall in love despite this insurmountable problem.

When the Ferryman dies, Krishani knows he must step up to take his place, but Kaliel cannot follow. She and the other Flames are being hunted by the Valtanyana, and the safest place for her is the mystical island of Avristar. An innocent mistake grants the hunters access to the island and Kaliel must decide how far she will go to save everything she has ever loved.

"Rhiannon Paille has created in her protagonists a mirror for what we ourselves face when searching for our own paths," writes Bella, an Amazon.com book reviewer.

"I felt like I was in Avristar while reading this book," writes reviewer Shelly Varuca. "The writing seemingly transports you to this beautiful world. I could smell the apples and feel the wind. I loved the talking trees and the Merfolk.

"I recommend this book to everyone who... misses epic fantasy but doesn't want to compromise their rebellious, sexy, dangerous paranormal and urban fantasies. This one satisfies all the wants, I even detected some steampunk in there!"
