Five Minutes With Herb Myers

CEO and President, BOXLIGHT Corporation By DMN Staff Writer
Herb Myers, CEO, President, BOXLIGHT
Q: What do you believe were the biggest changes in the industry in the last five years? How did they change things and what impact did those changes have?

A: Early on, the projector industrys main focus was on creating a product that could compete with the slide projector. Our early efforts were projectors that were clunky, heavy and with minimal brightness capabilities.

Today, even the lightest, ultraportable units, are bright enough to conquer most room and lighting situations.

Many companies in the industry now believe the next challenge is to design a line of projectors that weigh less than one pound with greater lumens output. To reach these goals, however, manufacturers have to sacrifice key features.

I dont believe that todays tech-savvy market is willing to give up features for a lighter product. I also think, especially in our ever-tightening economy, price is clearly becoming a bigger issue than it might have once been.
