First Lady Announces New Effort to Hire Military Spouses and Veterans(April 04, 2012)

The First Lady announced today during a conference call with Military1Click and various media outlets, the new efforts to hire military spouses through her Joining Forces initiative. Mrs. Obama, was joined by Joining Forces Executive Director Brad Cooper and Dawn Schaeffer, a military spouse partnered with Arise Virtual Solutions in the telework industry and residing near Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, where her husband is stationed.
The First Lady and Captain Cooper discussed the major commitment from over 11 companies to deliver more than 15,000 jobs to military spouses and veterans. Mrs. Obama referred to, military spouses are blazing the trail for portable and flexible careers. As a working mother herself, Mrs. Obama talked about how she has fought for flexibility in the career world with portable and flexible jobs to accommodate working moms and military spouses lives. The First Lady added, Military Spouses are leading the way because of their unique situation and talents, which are attracting companies that are not only grateful for their service, but know that they are an incredible asset to their companies. Companies like Apline Access, Arise Virtual Solutions and Hilton Hotels have virtual jobs available for military spouses and veterans that can move with them when they receive a new set of orders.
Furthermore, these companies have positions available from entry level through management level. Military1Clicks Co-Founder, Jennifer Pilcher, who is also a military spouse, praised the program and asked Mrs. Obama, Captain Cooper and Dawn Schaeffer about the certification process, education requirements and salary range. Captain Cooper and Dawn Schaeffer, who works for Arise Virtual Solutions, discussed how each company is customer and company centric for training. Mrs. Schaeffer explained that Virtual Solutions has a quick admissions process and the certification classes were extremely helpful and personable. The general salary ranges from $9.00 - $16.00, however you are able to schedule your own hours (part time vs. full time), therefore increasing your pay.
These companies are offering opportunities that go well beyond a call center position. Each company will have their specific positions posted which offer a huge range of skill sets and salaries. Some of these companies also offer the portability for our overseas military families to start working or continue working for the company when moving.
