First European Showing by Vestel of DLP Large Screen Table Top TV(August 27, 2001)
The Vestel prototype, a 43" (110cms) diagonal 16:9 aspect ratio table top television, weighs 75 lbs (34kgs) and measures 18" (46cms) front to back. The production version is expected to weigh less at 55lbs (25kgs), with a depth of just 12" (31cms) and will be suitable for mounting on a shelf or tabletop. It is designed with the needs of European consumers in mind, and is optimised specifically for the burgeoning digital widescreen PAL market. Target price for the commercial product is $3,000.
Today, TI supplies DLP subsystems to more than thirty of the world's top projector manufacturers, who then design, manufacture and market projectors based on DLP technology. There are now over fifty products based on DLP technology in the market. Since early 1996, over 750,000 DLP subsystems have been shipped.
