FireWireDirect Ships FireWire-Based DVD-R

FirewireDirect has announced an external combination DVD-R/CD-RW burner. The new system, the UltraBURN DVD-R, is a FireWire-based device that offers DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R and CD-RW capabilities. The company has also announced an internal version of the same drive, as well as the availability to DVD-R and DvD-RW media for $2.59 per disc in quantity.

The UltraBURN DVD-R is based on the pioneer DVR-104 mechanism, which is twice as fast as the company's previous mechanism. This is the first release of the DVR-104 in a FireWire configuration. It ships with authoring software for Macintosh and Windows.

FirewireDirect is also offering the drive mechanism as a standalone Internal drive for desktop systems, 5.25? enclosures. The Internal drive sells for $399.95. The external, FireWire version runs $549.95. For more information, visit>.
