Final Cut Express is a DV editing application based on Apple's higher-end Final Cut Pro NLE. Final Cut Express 2 supports up to five DV streams in real time, with an increased number of real-time effects via the adoption of RT Extreme technology carried over from Final Cut Pro 4. It also offers an enhanced user interface, with customizable buttons, dynamic windows (position and resizing) and a user-adjustable timeline. It also offers real-time, multi-track audio support and real-time volume and filter adjustments. The new 2.0.2 release includes improvements to the user interface and window displays, new documentation and preferences options and fixes for several known issues in the areas of timeline editing, video sync over FireWire and capturing long clips.
Final Cut Express 2.0.2 is available now for Mac OS X as a free update for current users. The full version runs $299, with upgrades from version 1.x running $99. For more information, visit http://www.apple.com.
