Filmlab Digital, India, Gets BrightDrive Shareable Media Store for New DI and Film Restoration Facility(August 20, 2007)
BrightDrive will provide the infrastructure and media sharing facilities for a range of projects including full length feature films for Bollywood and international markets. Film Cutter, Film Master and Final Cut Pro operators will be able to work collaboratively using the same media at the same time by sharing files across networks. 2K and 4K media will be delivered in real-time enabling operators to begin work without the need to copy data between workstations. BrightDrive will also provide nearline storage for four restoration seats and two scanners as well as media sharing between Filmlab Digital's new facilities and Filmlab's film laboratories.
"Having looked at other systems, BrightDrive stood out for its reliability in the field, its high performance and its advanced technology," said Henning Hahn, CTO - Digital Imaging, Filmlab. "With it we will be able to provide clients with a very efficient and flexible workflow between our DI systems and lab services."
The BrightDrive range of shareable media systems is fully scalable to meet all DI and post applications, and can be integrated easily with existing infrastructures. Systems include the BrightDrive Data Management Suite which comprises Data Mover, Data Optimizer and Data Wrangler, as well as secure, remote distributed system diagnostics to ensure reliable, consistent and uninterrupted high performance. By allowing concurrent users simultaneous access to files across multiple platforms, including video networks, and in any format to 4k and beyond, users are able to make significant reductions in time to completion and achieve fast, efficient and reliable workflows.
Filmlab is one of India's larger motion picture processing labs. Located in Mumbai, the laboratory was established in 2001 and is among the most modern (and eco-friendly) facilities of its type in Asia. Filmlab Digital will offer complete digital intermediate and digital film restoration services. www.filmlabindia.com.
