FilmCores Wayman-Harris Discovers the Joy of Six in a Honda

FilmCore editor Nicholas Wayman-Harris helped to show that good things come in sixes in editing a spot for the new 6-speed, V6 Honda Accord coupe, the first V6 hybrid in the United States.

Conceived by Santa Monica agency RPA and directed by Believe Medias Paul Street, the spot  follows a black Accord as it travels through pristine countryside, passing a row of six trees, six hay bales and six cyclists. The road is route 6, the time is six p.m. and the driver is listening to the sixth track of the sixth disc in his CD player. The car ultimately halts at an intersection, naturally a 6-way stop.

The confluence of sixes lends the spot a slightly eccentric quality that Wayman-Harris played off of in his cut. ?We wanted it to be quirky to set up the joke with the 6-way stop, he explained. ?It needed something a bit off-center, and thats why we use all of the jump cuts around the car.

Although he played with the order of some of the traveling shots at the beginning of the spot, Wayman-Harris said his edit came together quickly. ?It was a fun piece to do and it looks great, he said. ?It was nice to edit a spot with such a good idea behind it. He added that the spot includes a number of subtle visuals playing off its spooky theme that viewers may only catch after seeing the spot several times. ?The shot of the GPS system lists the name of the town the car has just passed through, he said. ?Its Hitchcock.
