Feeling Slighted? With its 'Mad Mac' offer, Alpha Flight Guru has Airfare Discounts for Apple Computer Users Who Claim They Paid More for Hotels from Orbitz(July 19, 2012)
San Bruno, CA (PRWEB) July 19, 2012
Alpha Flight Guru has some relief for Apple users who are tired of getting a raw deal from Orbitz when they use the travel website to arrange trips.
A recent Wall Street Journal article reported that Orbitz tweaks hotel search results so Mac users see more expensive lodging opportunities than those who search using PCs. In response, Alpha Flight Guru, a travel agency specializing in cheap business class tickets and discount first class flights, is offering $150 discounts to Mac users who feel slighted by the news.
Your taste in computers shouldnt have any influence on what you spend on a hotel room, Alpha Flight Guru spokesman Tim Gibson said. We offer the best deals on international first class airfare and business class travel regardless of the operating system you are using.
News that Orbitz was presenting Mac users with more expensive hotel search results did not surprise Gibson, who said the revelation illustrated one of the many pitfalls of booking travel online.
Regardless of the computer you are using or other outside factors, exclusively using the Internet to book travel can have some major drawbacks, including missing out on deals that only travel agents with special vendor relationships are able to offer, Gibson said. We have access to thousands of deals you wont find posted on a travel booking site.
Anyone (a Mac or PC user) who feels they were unfairly targeted by Orbitz may call Alpha Flight Guru at 800-359-5175 or send an online request through AlphaFlightGuru.com. Mention the Mad Mac promotion for a $150 discount on business or first class flights. A new white paper from Alpha Flight Guru has other tips for lowering the costs of luxury flights.
The Wall Street Journal reported that by tracking the activity of Orbitz customers, Orbitz officials found that Mac users spent about 30 percent more on hotels. Mac users favored four- and five-star hotels and were 40 percent more likely to book luxury accommodations than those who used PCs. The findings also indicated that Mac users generally stayed in more expensive rooms than PC users, and Mac users tended to spend $20 to $30 more per night for lodging.
According to Gibson, Orbitz is leveraging the new data for additional revenue.
In a test of various cities, the Mac search results were on average 11 percent higher on the first page than when the search was done on a PC, he explained.
Orbitz officials said that other factors that affected search results included previous use of the website, location of the user, popularity of hotels and special promotions.
