Fastora Launches Mac NAS Servers

Servers sport up to 2.4 TB capacity By Dave Nagel
Fastora has launched a new line of network-attached storage (NAS) servers designed specifically for Mac OS-based networks. The servers include the PowerStor and LiteStor families of servers, which range in capacity from 600 GB to 2.4 TB. They'll be available this month.

Fastora says its servers are Mac-compliant and offer IDE hot-swappable hard drives, redundant power supplies, Fast and Gigabit Ethernet ports, Mini PCI expansion slots, CompactFlash sockets, backup utilities, management/monitoring software and a browser-based GUI. The LiteStor comes in two configurations, a micro tower with a 600 GB capacity with two drive bays ($749) and a tower with a 1.2 TB maximum capacity with four drive bays ($1,095). The PowerStor line comes in three configurations: a 1U rackmount unit with a 1.2 TB capacity and four drive bays ($1,099); a tower with a 2.4 TB capacity and eight drive bays ($2,799); and a 2U rackmount unit with a 2.4 TB capacity and eight drive bays ($2,799). Most of the models come with 512 MB memory. (The LiteStor tower has a 512 MB memory max but comes with 256 MB RAM.) All support RAID-0 and RAID-1, and most also support RAID-5 and JBOD.
