Fastcase Launches First Legal Research App for Android

  (June 05, 2012)

Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 05, 2012

Legal publisher Fastcase today launched the first legal research application for the Android platform. With the free download of the new app, Fastcase for Android, users can search Fastcases comprehensive national law library of cases and statutes anywhere, anytime, and on any Android device.

Like Fastcases award-winning apps for iPhone and iPad, the Android app incorporates Fastcases smarter search tools from the Web environment, including powerful algorithms that rank best results first, citation analysis tools, and Mobile Sync with desktop subscriptions to Fastcase.

And like Fastcases apps on iOS, the app is free to download, and although it requires a registration, it is free to use, either with or without a Fastcase desktop subscription.

In 2010, Fastcase was the first company to launch an app for legal research, and later, the first company to launch an app for iPad. The American Association of Law Libraries named Fastcase for iPhone the 2010 New Product of the Year. In 2011, Rocket Matter named Fastcases apps for iPhone and iPad the Legal Productivity App of the Year. Today, Fastcase continues this trend by launching the first-ever legal research app for the Android platform, which works seamlessly on phones and tablets.

Early reviews are calling the app a must-have for lawyers with Android devices:

"After air, the Fastcase apps make free the best things in life for lawyers: cases and statues." (Sean Doherty, Law Technology News)

"In my opinion, every attorney should have this app on his or her mobile device. . . . With this app, it is quick and easy to do legal research on the road. And at a cost of zero, you cant beat the price." (Bob Ambrogi, LawSites Blog)

"According to the American Bar Association (ABA) 2011 Technology Survey, the award-winning Fastcase mobile apps are the most-often mentioned product names for downloaded legal-specific smart phone apps and account for more users in the legal-specific mobile marketplace (25%) than industry leaders Lexis (9%) and Westlaw (11%) combined." (Jean O'Grady, Dewey B Strategic Blog)

"Fastcase seeks to set the standard for mobile legal research, and their mobile app design will be something Lexis and Westlaw will have to work hard to match. Were only halfway through 2012, and I can already tell you this will be a 2012 must have Android app for attorneys." (Jeffrey Taylor,

"I have no doubts that any attorney or librarian who needs to do research on the fly would consider this app to be an important part of their research arsenal." (Jenny Wondracek, RIPS Law Librarian Blog)

Android is the fastest-growing platform in the mobile market, and to our large community of Android users, we can finally say: the wait is over, said Fastcase CEO Ed Walters.

The company recently launched Fastcase Mobile Sync, which allows full integration of its mobile apps with the desktop version of Fastcase. Mobile Sync securely synchronizes a users favorite documents and search history between mobile apps and desktop versions of Fastcase, whether through an enterprise firm subscription or through a state bar association.

Besides providing access to legal research through award-winning free mobile apps, the company currently provides smarter legal research tools to more than 500,000 subscribers, in a growing number of AmLaw 250 law firms, 22 state bar associations and dozens of voluntary bar associations and law schools.

Fastcase has gained very strong momentum in the legal research market recently. Fastcase was voted #1 in Law Technology Newss inaugural Customer Satisfaction Survey, finishing first in 7 out of 10 categories over traditional research providers Westlaw and LexisNexis. In recent months, Fastcase has introduced new opinion summaries and Fastcase Cloud Printing, and has been named to the prestigious EContent 100 list of leading digital publishing and media companies alongside Google, Amazon, Apple and Facebook for two years in a row.
