Fandango Joins with PayPal to Bring Moviegoers a New Mobile Payment Option on Its iPhone and Android Apps(December 21, 2011)
Los Angeles and San Jose, CA (PRWEB) December 21, 2011
Just in time for the holidays, Fandango announced today that moviegoers now have the option of using PayPal when purchasing movie tickets through its iPhone and Android showtimes and ticketing apps.
We first offered PayPal as a payment option on the Web, and were now pleased to extend it to mobile, says Rick Butler, Fandango Executive Vice President and General Manager. More than 20 percent of Fandangos ticket sales come from mobile devices and PayPal will offer an additional safe, easy and fast payment method for our moviegoers on the go.
The PayPal mobile option is the latest convenience from Fandango, which recently introduced Mobile Ticket, a paperless and eco-friendly mobile barcode scanned by the theater ticket-taker, to more than 1,000 screens in the Regal Entertainment Group.
Fandango has seen a 73% year-over-year increase in mobile ticket sales in 2011. The year overall marked the best-performing year in the company's 11-year history, with record highs for its ticket sales, online and mobile traffic, advertising sales and the number of theater screens it represents across the country.
With this latest Fandango option, film fans can select PayPal as a payment option after choosing the show time and entering the quantity of tickets. Customers can then login to PayPal securely to complete the transaction.
Millions of PayPal customers globally make payments through mobile devices, so combining our frictionless mobile payments experience with Fandangos iPhone and Android apps makes ticket purchasing easier and faster than ever before, said David Marcus, Vice President of Mobile, PayPal. Fandango has made it incredibly convenient to purchase movie tickets with a mobile device and PayPal helps customers make these transactions seamlessly.
Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination, sells tickets to 16,500 screens. Fandango entertains and informs consumers with reviews, commentary and trailers, and offers the ability to quickly select a film, plan where and when to see it, and conveniently buy tickets in advance (with Mobile Ticket redemption capability at more than a thousand screens). Fandango is available at http://www.fandango.com, via your wireless mobile device at mobile.fandango.com, and at 1-800-FANDANGO. Fandango's top-ranking movie ticketing apps, with 21 million downloads, are available on the iPhone and iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 and many other platforms.
