COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) ' The grandmother of a missing 18-month-old South Carolina boy whose mother is jailed for lying about his whereabouts says relatives are planning to speak out about the case.
Jocelyn Jennings Nelson tells The Associated Press the family is planning to issue statements Thursday.
Nelson reported her daughter, 22-year-old Zinah (ZEE-nah) Jennings, and grandson missing last month and said she hadn't seen them since Thanksgiving.
Jennings was found after a car wreck Christmas Eve. Columbia police say she has told inconsistent stories, saying her son, Amir, was with friends in North Carolina and Georgia.
Jennings has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.
Nelson told police Jennings' behavior changed after Amir was born. Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott says he's trying to stay positive but hasn't ruled out foul play.
