Faith Life Church AddsThree Fujinon LensesCongregation to broadcast Sunday services on a local network affiliate (December 06, 2004)
As it builds a new production center as part of its plan to broadcast its services to a nationwide audience, the Faith Life Church has added three Fujinon lenses to its equipment package. The purchase, which was made in August, includes one Ah50X9.5ESM and two A22X7.8BERM lenses. They are fitted to three Ikegami HL60 cameras. Systems integrator VMI of St. Louis, Missouri, supervised the installation of the lenses and other video equipment for the Church.
This marks Faith Life Churchs first foray into video production, and theyve been using the lenses for approximately one month so far. Currently, theyre capturing services on Friday and Sundays and feeding those live to the Internet. The long-range plan is to broadcast an edited version of the Sunday morning services on one of the local network affiliate stations and shortly thereafter to a nationwide audience. The programs will air a week or two after the actual services. Local broadcasts are expected to begin by the end of this year, and the Church may produce DVDs also.
A colleagues strong Fujinon recommendation, the brand name, and a compelling demonstration of the lenses at last years NAB convention in Las Vegas convinced the churchs ministry to move forward with the purchase.
According to Devin Crane, director of the churchs video operation, the lenses have lived up to all expectations. ?So far, were very pleased with the lens quality, clarity and the strong depth of field, he said. ?Fujinon is a true leader in its field. Were already considering expanding the video operation, and our next camera purchase will certainly include a Fujinon lens.
Crane heads up a group of two full-time employees and five volunteers, which includes three camera operators, one camera assistant, a director (Crane), an audio supervisor and an Internet specialist.
The A22X7.8BERM is a telephoto lens with a 2x extender, making it the longest such lens in the market with a reduced size and weight (1.78kg), improved F number (F1.8) - maximum relative aperture of F1.8 (from 7.8-122mm) and reduced Minimum Object Distance (0.8m).
The Ah50X9.5ESM is the longest focal length lens in its class with a range of 9.5 to 475mm and up to 950mm with its built-in range extender. Without employing the range extender, the lens can shoot close up at 100 feet from the subject. The F-stop remains flat at f1.4 up to 253mm and only falls off to f2.6 at 475mm. With this range, the new Ah50x is able to produce bright, sharp images under the most challenging lighting conditions.
A dust-proof design coupled with Fujinon's exclusive anti-fogging feature ensures the lens long-standing durability. Zoom and focus can be controlled manually or with Fujinon's Digi Power servo controls.
