FOR-A Makes HD Broadcasting A Snap at NAB 2005Company to put HD transition in reach of all broadcasters (February 02, 2005)
At this year's NAB convention, FOR-A Corporation of America (NAB Booth #C4519) will put the HD transition in reach of all broadcasters, as well as offer solutions for making broadcast graphics crisper and clearer than ever. The company is introducing the world's first frame synchronizer with 14-bit digital processing, an HD version of FOR-A's digiStorm virtual studio solution, and two new color correction options for its HANABI HVS-1000HS switcher. FOR-A will also be showing VertigoXmedia's PowerPoint TV studio in a box, X-Presenter.
Appearing for the first time at NAB will be FOR-A's new FA-128 frame synchronizer, the world's first 14-bit internal processing frame synchronizer. It comes as a stand-alone unit or as a modular card (the UFM-128FS). The new model expands FOR-A's popular FA-series of time base corrector/frame synchronizers to 13 models, supporting analog composite to high definition formats.
With the FA-128, operators can take advantage of the clear, crisp images that only 14-bit processing can provide. Plus, with its half-rack size, the FA-128 won't take up much space in the broadcast plant or mobile unit. Operators looking for even more space savings can opt for the modular version of the FA-128, the UFM-128FS. The UFM-128FS cards can be inserted into FOR-A's UF-106 or UF-112 frames.
Virtual Studio and Broadcast Graphics
FOR-A provides a full, integrated suite of 2D and 3D graphics solutions based on Windows open architecture. Being introduced at NAB is an HD version of digiStorm, an on-air graphics solution developed by FOR-A in collaboration with Brainstorm Multimedia's eStudio virtual studio software program. digiStorm HD simplifies virtual studio and graphics creation by integrating the functions of a wide variety of devices, including a chroma keyer for compositing and delay line for correcting video delay. It comes with the HANABI switcher, ifCalib camera calibration software, and numerous plug-ins, including Maya 3ds XSI and a library of virtual studio sets.
New Color Correction Options for HVS-1000HS
New at NAB 2005 will be the HVS-1000CC and HVS-KYCC, two color correction options for the HVS-1000HS, FOR-A's HD/SD multi-bit-rate 1 M/E switcher. The HVS-1000CC assigns two-channel color correction capabilities on A/B, effects background, DSK, and aux busses. The HVS-KYCC is an optional keyer with built-in color correction capabilities. Up to two HVS-KYCC options can be installed per switcher. Use of the HVS-1000CC is required for the HVS-KYCC option.
With the HVS-1000CC and HVS-KYCC options, FOR-A's widely used color correctors can now be built into the HVS-1000HS switcher.
In addition to the above-listed new products, FOR-A will showcase VertigoXmedia's X-Presenter at NAB 2005. X-Presenter is a PowerPoint TV studio in a box-a solution that allows users to integrate broadcast-quality graphics and video into PowerPoint presentations without the use of a scan converter. It runs directly inside the user interface, allowing even non-graphics artists to produce CG graphics and animations rivaling those of more expensive character generators. Typical applications include live presentations, corporate informational channels, cable TV channels, closed circuit video networks, hospitality channels, and digital signage.
FOR-A is a major manufacturer and distributor of audio and video systems to the broadcast, postproduction and professional video markets.
