"FAFSA on the Web" Named Top Federal News and Information Web SiteFree Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Site Developed by Vangent Recognized for High Citizen Satisfaction in ACSI Survey (February 22, 2010)
ARLINGTON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/22/10 -- Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process solutions, announced that the "FAFSA on the Web" web portal co-designed, built and operated by the company, on behalf of the Department of Education, received the highest citizen satisfaction score in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) survey of U.S. Federal Government 2009 news and information sites.
"Each year, more than 16 million students apply for more than $100 million in Federal student aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Vangent has been a valued partner with the Department of Education in improving and simplifying the FAFSA, and today, approximately 99% of aid applications are submitted electronically via FAFSA on the Web which has led to greatly improved efficiencies," stated Mac Curtis, President and CEO of Vangent.
Vangent has been working with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) for more than twenty five years and recently helped create a simpler system for financial aid applicants that would also improve usability and accuracy via a secure, user-friendly Web site. Vangent continues to work with FSA to implement ongoing enhancements to create a user-friendly experience and address the changing needs of citizens.
In January 2010, Vangent launched a new simplified form that includes skip logic, text pop-ups and an IRS Data Match, a capability that automatically pre-populates, transfers and verifies applicant tax data with the IRS in real-time, further streamlining the amount of time and paperwork required by citizens filing the FAFSA.
"Vangent worked closely with FSA to develop and execute on a user-friendly portal that not only increased user satisfaction, but also met the Obama Administration's objectives to simplify the financial aid application process and improve access to college education," said Craig Janus, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Vangent. "The ACSI ranking is confirmation of our excellent partnership with FSA. We are proud of the work we do to help FSA more cost-effectively serve the public."
The FAFSA Web site received a score of 88, the highest in the U.S. Federal Government 2009 news and information site category. The ACSI is a uniform, national, cross-industry measure of satisfaction with the quality of goods and services available in the United States. In 1999, the Federal government selected the ACSI to be a standard metric for measuring citizen satisfaction. A copy of the rankings can be accessed here.
