Extensis Updates Suitcase Server, Client

New client supports AppleScript; cross-platform server administration in the works By Dave Nagel
Extensis has updated Suitcase, the company's font management suit. The update includes new versions of the client and server.

The new Suitcase client (version 10.2) now offers systemwide automatic font activation in Mac OS X, as well as support for AppleScript. With automatic activation, Suitcase activates fonts as they're required by individual documents in any supported application. (A list of these is available at the Extensis Web site.)

The new Suitcase server supports Mac OS X Server and Windows NT, 2000 and XP Servers. According to Extensis, an updated version of the Windows client, set for release in early 2003, will allow for cross-platform use and administration. It also adds support for Users & Groups; font license tracking; use of a centralized database with security features; new administrative tools; Remote administration through the Macintosh client now, the Windows client in early 2003.

The updated Suitcase client is available now free for current users. The full version runs $99.95. The new Suitcase Server is available now for $999.95 and includes five free client licenses. Upgrade pricing is also available. For more information, visit
