Epson Stylus Photo R300MCombo paper and CD/DVD label printer
The Stylus Photo R300M is a combo printer: It handles standard paper sizes, just like other desktop inkjet printers from Epson; but it also has the ability to print directly to inkjet-coated CD and DVD media. So you can print both your inserts and your disc labels on the same machine. This alone is unusual for a disc label printer. But what's even more unusual is image quality, which is what makes the R300M stand out against all competitors I've seen to date. It's also the reason I bought one for myself after just a day of testing my review unit.
Now, I've been in the market for a disc label printer for quite some time, and I've flirted with several varieties, everything from dedicated label printers to fully automated disc production systems. But always nagging at me was the problem of print quality. I could never seem to get the kind of imagery out of these things that I could get from my regular inkjet printers, all of which, not coincidentally, are Epsons. But the R300M changed that. Its superior image quality was immediately apparent.
The Stylus Photo R300M is a 5,760 x 1,440 DPI, six-color (CcMmYK) printer. It accepts standard paper sizes through a backside sheet feeder, like other Epson printers. For CD and DVD label printing, it includes a separate tray that loads through the front of the device.
