Epson has started shipping its new Stylus C84 inkjet printer. The new model offers water-resistant inks and prints at resolutions up to 5,760 x 1,440 DPI. It's available now for Macintosh and Windows systems.

The Stylus C84 replaces the C82 as Epson's flagship general-purpose printer. It prints at resolutions up to 5,760 x 1,440 DPI at speeds up to 22 PPM in black and white and up to 12 PPM in color. The new model also uses DuraBrite inks, which have a light-resistance rating of 80 years. Other features include:

  • Ability to print border-free images;
  • 3 picoliter ink droplets;
  • Individual ink cartridges (C, M, Y and K);
  • Paper input tray holds 120 sheets of 20-pound paper.

The standard C84 printer (USB and parallel connections) is available now for $79. Two networked models are also available. The C84N offers additional Ethernet connectivity, while the C84WN includes a wireless 802.11b print server. For more information, visit
