Epson Intros Stylus Photo 900Printer supports directing printing to CD and DVD media
Epson is billing the new printer as "the first photo printer under $200 that has the capability to print directly onto CDs and DVDs without adhesive labels." It's Epson's second printer in the line to include the technology for printing directly onto printable CDs and DVDs.
The Stylus Photo 900 offers a six-color Photo Ink system, with resolutions up to 5,760 x 720 DPI and 4 picoliter ink droplets. The printer also offers Print Image Matching II and Exif Print support. It uses Epson's BorderFree photo printing technology for printing 4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10" and letter-size images with no borders. It can print on cut-sheet media sizes from 3.5" to 8.5" wide. And it offers two separate paper paths, including a straight-through paper path for thicker media (up to 1.3 mm thick), as well as the CD/DVD tray. In addition, it also comes with Epson's roll paper holder accessory. The printer can handle roll feeds up to 8.3" x 44" on 8.3" wide roll paper.
The Stylus Photo 900 offers built-in parallel and USB ports and includes CD design and printing software, Epson Software Film Factory and Print Image Matching plugin for Adobe Photoshop. The printer and all of the included software are Windows- and Macintosh-compatible. It will be available at the end of the month for $199. FOr more information, visit http://www.epson.com.
