Epson Brings Down Projector Prices

New PowerLite models fall below $3,000 By Dave Nagel
Epson has released two new models in its PowerLite line of digital projectors. Both models fall into Epson's Value Series of projectors and come in at less than $3,000. They include the new PowerLite 71c and the PowerLite 51c, based on the 70c and 50c, respectively.

The PowerLite 71c is an XGA (1,024 x 768) projector with 1,000 ANSI lumens of brightness. It offers a 300:1 contrast ratio, weighs 6.8 pounds and measures 8.6" x 3.2" x 11.8". It sells for $2,999.

The other new model, the 51c, is a 1,200 ANSI lumen projector with a resolution of 800 x 600. It offers a 400:1 contrast ratio and weighs and measures the same as the 71c. It sells for $2,199.

Both projectors use Epson's own three-LCD projection system, which use three 0.7-inch LCDs. The projectors also offer Epson's SizeWise technology, which allows it to accept input from computers ranging from 640 x 480 to 1,280 x 1,024. The models are also HDTV-ready and can accept 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p signals. They also include picture in picture technology, 15-degree digital keystone correction, electronic zoom, multi-function remote control and on-screen help features.

Both models are available now. For more information, visit
