Epson today announced two new models in its PowerLite line of digital projectors. The new models, which include the 7800p and 8300i, incorporate new larger LCD panels (1" and 1.4", respectively) and offer new remote management capabilities. They're expected to ship later this month.

The PowerLite 8300i, weighing in at 24.7 pounds, offers a resolution of 1,024 x 768 at 5,200 ANSI lumens and with a 1,200:1 contrast ratio. To save lamp life, the brightness can also be selected to 3,000 ANSI lumens. It also offers offers electrically powered adjustments for lens shift, zoom and focus.

The PowerLite 7800p weighs in at 12.1 pounds and includes a resolution of 1,024 x 768 with a brightness of 3,200 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 700:1. It can also be selected to operate at 2,500 ANSI lumens. And it provides a technology called Wall Shot, which offers automatic color correction even when projecting onto colored surfaces.

Both projectors include a new feature called EasyManagement, which allows administrators to monitor, maintain and control the projectors from a remote location using a Web browser or proprietary Epson software. The projectors connect to a network through built-in RJ-45 Ethernet. An e-mail notification system is also available to alert users about the projectors' temperature, fan and lamp.

The new models also offer a variety of keystone and image correction technologies and include D-sub15, BNC, DVI, S-Video, composite video, monitor out and USB connections. The PowerLite 8300i will be available in late April for $9,999. The PowerLite 7800p will also be available in late April for $4,899. For more information, visit
