Ephox Launches EditLive! 7.6

New Version Delivers Enhanced Internationalization Features and Browser Support for Google Chrome, Firefox 4 and Safari 5.1 (July 12, 2011)

PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/12/11 -- Ephox, a leading provider of content authoring and content analytics tools, introduced today a major upgrade to its web authoring solution, EditLive!. Key highlights of the release, EditLive! 7.6, include support for an array of new browsers, enhanced internationalization features, major improvements to EditLive!'s rendering engine and significant enhancements to EditLive!'s collaboration functionality.

"The new browser support and internationalization enhancements bring the market's most technically advanced content authoring tool to new users," said Tim Thatcher, Senior VP of Products and Strategy. "Over the years we have developed a great user community all over the world and they continue to drive EditLive! forward."

EditLive! 7.6 strengthens the product's existing browser support with the addition of support for Google Chrome, Firefox 4 and above and Safari 5.1 and above for Apple OS X versions 10.6 "Snow Leopard" and the new 10.7 "Lion." New browser support is also available for Google Chrome on Linux operating systems.

The release also introduces enhanced internationalization features including new flexibility in creating content that includes right-to-left oriented text, such as Hebrew and Arabic. Content can now feature both right-to-left and left-to-right oriented content within the same document. Improvements to cursor positioning and extended character set support also make it easier to create documents in languages other than English.

Additional enhancements to EditLive! include:

  • Rendering engine improvements results in more accurate content, even when using complex styling and layouts. Styling and layouts imported from Microsoft Word are more true to the original document.
  • New error handling for large documents ensures that users receive feedback when attempting to load or import a very large document (e.g. several hundred pages).
  • Track changes enhancements more precisely capture content changes. Track changes, together with commenting features, make EditLive! an ideal environment for online content creation and collaboration.

With EditLive!, content authors can streamline their content strategy and get on the new road to content. EditLive! is designed for content authors who write content, not code. EditLive! can be found in prominent content management systems and allows web teams to create web content, emails, blogs, wikis, and more. EditLive! supports more than 100 different character sets, including Unicode and right-to-left text.

EditLive! is licensed by leading web content management (WCM) vendors, including IBM, Oracle and Open Text. For more information on EditLive! 7.6, please visit http://editlive.com/what-new.
