Eovia Posts Carrara Studio 3.0.2Corel and Eovia also launch Painter/Carrara cross promotion; Art Recon launches new 3D content for Carrara
Carrara Studio 3, released back in September, includes two new rendering engines: Eovia Impression, a non-photographic renderer for producing paint, chalk and other effects, and Eovia Photon Reality 2.0, a global illumination renderer with HDRI support. A variety of improvements have been made to Carrara's rendering capabilities, including performance, Gaussian filtering, sky dome illumination, raytraced soft shadows, alpha channel rendering and other features. For modeling, the version 3 includes a Dynamic Extrusion Tool for both basic and complex objects; UV Editor for control over texture placement and complex shading; Shading Domains for texturing a complex model; improvements to the Vertex Modeler; enhanced Subdivision Tool with edge creasing; Tree Maker for adding trees to a scene; and an improved Spline Modeler.
The new 3.0.2 update includes more than 60 individual improvements and bug fixes, incorporating most of these from the 3.0.1 update, which was also released this month. It offers improvements to Assemble, Booleans, rendering, interactive rendering, terrains, modeling, Tree Modeler, textures, import and export and Mac OS X-specific issues. Carrara Studio 3.0.2 is available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows as a free update for current users. The full version of Carrara Studio 3 runs $399.
Carrara/Painter cross promotion

Art Recon launches 3D content for Carrara
In other Carrara news, Art Recon has launched two new collections of 3D content for Carrara. Vol. 1 includes Greek and Roman art, covering Minoan, Doric, Ionic, Corinthian and Tuscan styles, with more than 350 3D objects. Vol. 2 includes Medieval art, covering R%omanesque and Gothic styles, with more than 350 objects.
