Entone, TANDBERG, and N2 Team on VOD PlatformTo showcase flexible and scalable Video on Demand platform at IBC (September 07, 2004)
Entone Technologies, the industrys leading provider of video content delivery systems, will use IBC 2004 to participate in a showcase of the industrys most flexible and scalable Video on Demand (VOD) platform.
Entone has worked with industry leaders TANDBERG Television and N2 Broadband to integrate an end-to-end platform with unprecedented levels of openness and flexibility. The platform specifically addresses the issues facing early adopters of VOD systems, namely the high costs and risks associated with highly proprietary architectures and vendor lock-in.
On TANDBERG Televisions IBC stand (Hall 1:461) visitors will be able to see the end-to-end platform in operation, including live demos of the Encoding Studio content ingest solution and StreamLiner video server from Entone Technologies, OpenStream Digital Services Platform from N2 Broadband, and video head end and the EQ6800 QAM Modulation system from TANDBERG Television.
?The combined Entone, TANDBERG, and N2 Broadband solution provides the industrys highest performance, lowest risk deployment platform, says Steve McKay, CEO of Entone Technologies. ?N2 Broadband has deployed more back office systems than any other vendor. TANDBERG Television has installed more digital headends in Europe than any other vendor. By using high-volume servers by the likes of IBM and HP, Entone offers a hardware platform that has been deployed in several hundred thousand instances compared to the legacy server vendors who may only have dozens of installations for a given version of their specialized hardware.
TANDBERG Television is the exclusive distributor of the end-to-end solution, having just recently signed an exclusive agreement to market N2 Broadbands OpenStream software throughout EMEA, as well as to work with N2 Broadband to provide Euro-centric solutions for the content on-demand marketplace. TANDBERG Television likewise markets and sells Entones content delivery solutions on a global basis.
?As European cable operators look to offer on demand video services they have the opportunity to deploy open systems that bring together best-of-breed solutions, says Adrian Bell, TANDBERG Televisions Cable TV Business Manager. ?By complementing our own technology and integration skills with other industry leaders with a similar focus on open standards, flexibility, and lower cost of ownership, we are able to offer an unprecedented level of flexibility to our customers.
Entone, TANDBERG Television and N2 Broadband have worked together to tailor their joint solution for the European market. TANDBERG Televisions position as the market leading cable head-end provider in Europe means the company brings considerable in-depth experience of many of the practical solutions that have allowed Europes major cable companies such as Auna, Cablecom, Comhem, KDG, and Telenet to deliver class-leading services in a highly competitive market.
Entones StreamLiner video delivery platform can also be seen at IBC in the stands of partners IBM (Stand 2.120) and Hewlett Packard (Stand 3.320).
