Enhanced TV-Over-IP Platform Enables Delivery of Next Generation Television Services to More SubscribersWith Minerva iTVFusion v5.3 Network Operators Can Harness Latest Internet Technologies to Offer Advanced IPTV and Broadband TV Services (March 20, 2012)
ALVISO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/20/12 -- Minerva Networks, the leading provider of software solutions for the delivery of television services to IP connected devices, today announced the general availability of the latest version (v5.3) of its iTVFusion 5 video services platform. Minerva iTVFusion v5.3 incorporates the latest Internet technologies, including Adaptive Bit-Rate (ABR) streaming, Quality of Experience (QoE) monitoring, wireless LAN connectivity, and high-performance embedded browsers, to provide a powerful toolkit for network operators to compete with emerging Over-the-Top (OTT) players. The enhanced platform enables operators to reach more subscribers, lower deployment and operational costs and deliver a more engaging consumer experience.
"By embracing the latest Internet technologies and content, operators can enhance their current pay-TV services with new value-added services -- increasing customer reach and retention, and improving the bottom line," said Mauro Bonomi, CEO at Minerva Networks. "Instead of ceding their network bandwidth to OTT providers with no financial return on increased costs, operators can utilize the Minerva iTVFusion 5 platform to provide more entertaining television services."
"As operators evaluate how they can leverage their networks to deliver Broadband TV services, solutions such as Minerva's iTVFusion 5.3 can help them quickly deploy rich, compelling experiences," said Colin Dixon, Senior Partner at The Diffusion Group.
Advanced TV-Over-IP Platform For Next Generation Services
With Minerva iTVFusion v5.3 operators can deliver a compelling line-up of programming whether linear, on demand or Internet-sourced through a unified user interface based on the latest embedded client software tools. The enhanced platform supports adaptive streaming technology to assure the delivery of high-quality television services over any broadband network. Minerva iTVFusion 5.3 can be easily integrated through standard interfaces with efficient, cost effective, cloud-based video on demand solutions. Thanks to new embedded QoE monitoring tools, service providers can proactively identify, diagnose and correct video quality problems. Finally, support for in-home wireless LAN connectivity drastically reduces installation costs.
New Business Opportunities
Minerva iTVFusion v5.3 enables two new business opportunities for service providers: Cloud-based Video on Demand (CVoD) and Broadband TV (BBTV). CVoD can "bolt onto" any broadband network either as a standalone service or as add-on service for existing pay-TV customers. With CVoD, for example, service providers offering IPTV services have access to a lower-cost, easier to deploy and more compelling video on demand offering. BBTV enables the service provider to deliver pay-TV services over broadband networks not capable of delivering traditional IPTV. Operators can now offer marketable service bundles including BBTV and premium broadband.
Minerva has documented reference platforms for each of these solutions.
"As an IPTV provider today, we are excited about the expanded business opportunities offered with Minerva's iTVFusion 5," said Matt Faggione, Video R&D at Etex Communications. "With its unified video services platform, we can easily leverage our infrastructure investments and operations expertise to extend our reach and services."
Unparalleled Support for Service Providers' Business Models
Minerva iTVFusion 5 offers industry leading back-office tools to help service providers manage a profitable pay-TV service. Server-side enhancements provide many new features for operators to meet consumer expectations. Programming is handled seamlessly within the operators' data center, utilizing existing subscriber licensing and subscriptions such as premium programming, channel bundles or time and location options. Network DVR, remote storage DVR, catch-up TV, restart TV, and pause live TV enable operators to offer advanced services without requiring expensive consumer devices. Minerva easily integrates with existing billing and customer management services and offers built in system management and monitoring capabilities to assure simple remote troubleshooting, network optimization and customer satisfaction monitoring.
