EnerNOC's DemandSMART Wins 2011 UK Efficiency Award From GreenbangEnerNOC's Demand Response Application Earns Accolades in the Energy Technologies Category (November 28, 2011)
LONDON -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/11 -- EnerNOC, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENOC), the world's leading provider of demand response applications and services, today announced that DemandSMART, EnerNOC's comprehensive demand response application, has been selected by UK cleantech research firm Greenbang as its 2011 Efficiency Awards winner in the Energy Technologies category. Greenbang's Efficiency Awards recognize the top efficiency-building technologies, projects, people, and companies in the cleantech and smart grid sectors. The awards were presented at a reception held on Thursday, November 24, 2011 in London.
"Demand response is an integral part of the smart grid, both in the UK and worldwide, and EnerNOC has proven to be a leader in the space," said Shirley Siluk Gregory, Managing Editor of Greenbang. "We selected DemandSMART as this year's Energy Technology award winner for its combination of real-time data visibility, energy savings potential, and advanced automation."
Commercial, institutional, and industrial energy users across the UK use DemandSMART to participate in demand response programmes. These programmes compensate energy users who can shed non-essential electricity usage in order to keep the grid stable and balance intermittencies caused by renewable energy resources. DemandSMART enables customers to view real-time energy data, to monitor demand response performance and to assess the impact of other energy efficiency measures. In addition, through DemandSMART's automated demand response (Auto DR) functionality, EnerNOC can automatically reduce electricity usage at participating sites directly from its Network Operations Center. This automated demand response technology helps make demand response participation a seamless process.
"We are thrilled to have received this award for our work with energy users in the United Kingdom," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC. "The UK's Department of Energy and Climate Change has singled out demand response as one the pillars of its electricity market reforms, and EnerNOC intends to continue developing this important resource to build a more efficient, lower-carbon electrical grid."
