EnerNOC Announces Commitment to White House-Inspired, Industry-Led Green Button Initiative at 2012 CGI America Meeting

CEO Tim Healy Joins Clean Electricity and Efficiency Working Group (June 07, 2012)

BOSTON, MA and CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 06/07/12 -- EnerNOC, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENOC), a leading provider of energy management applications for the smart grid, today announced its support of the Green Button Initiative, an industry-led effort in response to a White House call-to-action to standardize the accessibility and delivery of energy use data to electricity users. EnerNOC announces its support of the Green Button Initiative as its "Commitment to Action" submitted to the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) in advance of its participation in the CGI America meeting, held today and tomorrow in Chicago, IL. EnerNOC's Chairman and CEO, Tim Healy, is contributing to the Clean Electricity and Efficiency Working Group, one of 12 working groups aimed at finding solutions that promote economic recovery in the United States.

Historically, energy data has been difficult and costly to obtain, and its usefulness was limited due to the lack of a standard format. The goal of the Green Button Initiative is to provide more openness, standardization, and scalability of energy data and to empower energy users and technology innovators to identify creative ways to save energy. Utilities participating in the initiative are committing to provide electricity customers with easy and secure access to their own energy usage data in a consumer-friendly and computer-friendly format via a "green button" on their websites.

"The key to better energy management in the US is unlocking the latent potential we already have at our finger tips in the form of demand response and energy efficiency, which are by far the most cost-effective and sustainable resources we have as a nation today," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC. "The more we rally around industry standards for utility data, the faster companies like EnerNOC can continue to innovate and derive value from that data for our customers and all ratepayers."

With more than 12,500 customer sites streaming real-time data into its Network Operations Center (NOC), EnerNOC helps commercial, institutional, and industrial energy users deploy better energy management strategies, including demand response and data-driven energy efficiency solutions. In addition to providing its commercial, institutional, and industrial customers with a real-time view into their energy consumption, EnerNOC helps customers identify and quantify energy savings opportunities to make that information actionable. EnerNOC's Energy Management Application Platform supports the import of Green Button data, which is used to streamline customer qualification and on-boarding.

The Green Button Initiative is based on a technical standard developed in collaboration with a public-private partnership supported by the U.S. Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology.
