Encore Visual Effects Adds Artists West & Wilson

Flame and Combustion artists bring broad experience (June 11, 2004)

Jeff West, a Flame artist, and Johnny Wilson, a Combustion Artist and Graphic Designer, have become the latest additions to the team at Encore Visual Effects. Both artists bring broad experience in visual effects production for episodic television, feature films and other media, and both will be involved in long-form and short-form projects at Encore. West is currently working on the WB series Charmed. Wilson is part of the team working on the series Nip/Tuck for FX.

?Jeff and Johnny were both formally trained as artists, and that is something we look for in members of our visual effects team; they have a good eye and artistic talent that cant be taught, said Encore Visual Effects Executive Producer Barbara Marshall. ?In addition, they both have experience in several effects systems and that adds to the versatility of our team. We are delighted to have them on board.

West has been freelancing for the past two years and recently worked through the Howard Anderson Company and Zoic Studios as a compositor on Van Helsing and with the former on Man on Fire. Before that he held staff positions at Zoic and Radium. He worked extensively on the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also worked on numerous television commercials (Mazda, Vibe) and music videos (DMX, Sheryl Crow, In Sync).

After studying art at Point Loma College in San Diego, West began his career at Modern VideoFilm in Burbank. He served as the lead visual effects artist on the Power Rangers television series, and also worked on the series Smallville¸ Malcolm in the Middle and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. West has also worked as a storyboard artists and earned credit as such on Smallville and the television series Birds of Prey.

West said he was attracted to Encore Visual Effects by its creative orientation. ?I was looking for a home where I could apply my creative skills, he said. ?Im very impressed with Encores work and with their dedication to creative excellence. I wanted the challenge of working in an environment where the creative bar is set high.

Wilson joins Encore from the Howard Anderson Company where he specialized in compositing via the PC platform with such tools as Combustion and Shake. His most recent credits include Man on Fire and The Punisher. Prior to that, he worked at Walt Disney Television Animation and Cinema Research Corporation. Wilson began his career as an editor and served as the assistant editor on the films Slingblade and Laughing Dead. He also has experience as a print graphic designer with credits in album covers, poster art and outdoor advertising.
