Emagic Ships Logic Audio 5.5Entire Logic line now supports Mac OS X
Logic Audio is Emagic's flagship audio and MIDI production system. (Emagic was bought out by Apple in July.) It offers 192 tracks of audio at 24-bit/996 kHz. It also supports surround mixing and includes 50 audio effects plugins. The new version brings support for Logic Control to both Logic Gold and Logic Audio, in addition to the previously available support for Logic Platinum. Other new features include:
- New score features, including support for third-party fonts;
- Allows for a graphical export of scores in PICT or BMP format;
- Ability to strip silence in the Arrange window (Platinum, Gold);
- OMF support for Mac OS X;
- OpenTL file import (Platinum, Gold) and export (Platinum).
The software also gains support for the EXS24 MKII software sequencer, the successor to the EXS24. The MKII is a free update for EXS24 users and is included in a four-week trial version with Logic 5.5. New features include a new multi-mode filter, three LFOs, new user interface and a flexible modulation routing system.
Logic Control has also received some enhancements, in addition to gaining support for all version of Logic 5.5. These include plugin editing of inserts 9 through 15 (Platinum); A master fader (Platinum) for controlling outputs 1 and 2 when there is no Master Audio object in a Logic song; Large marker mode (Platinum, Gold); and control surface group settings view mode.
