Electric Rain Ships OS X Plugin for LightWave 7

Flash renderer supports five levels of cartoon shading By Dave Nagel
Electric Rain, makers of Swift 3D, have released an updated export plugin for NewTek LightWave 7 on Mac OS X. Swift 3D is a program that converts 3D data into vectors for Flash output, including the ability to render 3D animation in the Flash format. The company recently introduced Swift 3D 2.0 for Macintosh and Windows, but not yet for Mac OS X.

The plugin for LightWave 7 is an exporter that renders 3D data into the Flash format directly from the LightWave application. The company has released several Flash exporters for 3D programs for both Mac and Windows, but this is their first product for Mac OS X.

Electric Rain says the new exporter is geared toward speed and precision. It also provides a number of rendering options. These include:

  • Three levels of outlines
  • Five levels of cartoon shading
  • Two levels of gradient shading
  • Shadows and specular highlights.

The new plugin supports LightWave 6.5 through 7.0b. For more information, visit http://www.erain.com.
