Electric Rain Developing Swift 3D for Mac OS X

Native release of Flash conversion utility due in late spring By Dave Nagel
Electric Rain today officially announced that's it's developing Swift 3D 3.0 for Mac OS X. The company had previously sent out an alert to users notifying them that the 3D Flash utility for Mac OS 9 and Windows would finally make its way over to the current Mac OS. Today's announcement revealed that the software would go native this spring.

Swift 3D 3.0 is a standalone application for converting 3D artwork and animations to the Flash (.swf) format, as well as other vector and raster formats. According to the company, the version for Mac OS X will offer improved render speeds and an enhanced workflow.

Swift 3D 3.0 uses the RAViX III rendering engine for processing 3D scenes for vector formats. It supports transparency, reflection, specularity and multiple shadows. It also includes the EMO Ray Tracer, a second rendering engine with full bitmap texturing for output to raster and vector formats, including Flash. And it can render scenes to layers using Electric Rain's SmartLayer technology.

Swift 3D 3.0 for Mac OS X will be available in late spring as a free upgrade for users of the Macintosh version of Swift 3D 3.0. Upgrades from previous versions will run $89. The full version costs $169 (boxed and download). For more information, visit
