Editware's DPE-551 Hybrid Editor Chosen By NBC for Winter Olympic Games

Multi-channel Audio Capability Key To NBC's Telecast (November 01, 2001)
Editware has announced that NBC has purchased 16 DPE-551 Hybrid Editing Systems for their coverage of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

NBC will be using the latest Sony MPEG IMX Editing Recorder capable of recording and playing 8 discrete channels of audio. To accompany the IMX's 8-channel capability, NBC plans to use the new Graham-Patten 8000 audio console with 8 output busses. Editware, which integrates Graham-Patten's latest ESAM 4 protocol, controls the 8 output channels.

The Sony MAV-555 Video Server will be used to share material throughout the NBC edit bays. Editware NL-Source protocol for the MAV allows for multiple edit systems to simultaneously share the same clips. MAV clips are accessible for viewing and queuing directly from the DPE desktop rather than having to use the MAV front panel.

Editware's DPE-500 series features digital time base corrector (TBC) control. Video, black level, chroma and phase, input levels and system timing, all of which can be set directly from a desktop window on the editor. These settings can then be saved and then recalled from the editor at any time.
