Edinburgh International Games Festival Goes MobileEIGF04 features conference session ?The Mobile Phone? (June 18, 2004)
Edinburgh International Games Festival (EIGF04), 8th - 22nd August is running a conference session dedicated entirely to phone gaming - 'The Mobile Phone', Thursday 12th August 2004, 15:00-16:00. Nokia N-Gage and Orange are the first to confirm their participation.
The Mobile Phone: Gerard Grech, head of music and part of Alan Welsman's entertainment division at Orange, leads a panel discussion on the current position the mobile phone enjoys within youth culture. Is the mobile a Trojan horse for the games industry, or a distraction from the traditional market? Embracing every aspect of entertainment, this session will be of interest to anybody who wants to communicate with, and sell to, people under the age of 35.
EIGF04 comprises three separate but interrelated events:
Conference (industry)- two days of debate exploring the art & form and the business of interactive entertainment driving popular culture, and its convergence with other creative media such as music and film featuring leading players from all these industries, 12th-13th August.
Go Play Games (consumer)- two-week public gameplay exhibition providing gamers with the opportunity to get interactive with the very latest and greatest software and hardware products, including Nokia N-Gage, at the Royal Museum, 8th - 22nd August.
Game Screenings (consumer & industry)- four-day 'making of' series offering the chance for the public to get 'up close and personal' with the creators of some of the leading games, 11th-14th August.
