Ecobe Launches at DEMOEcobe Profit Sharing Search Engine (April 18, 2012)
SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/18/12 -- DEMO Spring 2011 Alpha Pitch winner, Ecobe, returns full circle to launch Ecobe (www.ecobe.com) search page at the DEMO Spring 2012 conference.
Ecobe is a search engine that recognizes the value of content providers and their importance in making a healthy, sustainable Web ecosystem.

The company's patent determines the relative contribution rate of a site or page (content providers). 40% of the gross profit is distributed to content providers based on their relative contribution rate to the search results. The company arrived at 40% after analyzing financial records of top global search engine companies, such as Google. Their findings revealed that a search engine can allocate 40% of its gross profit and still be competitive.
Ecobe holds a profit sharing patent that determines relative valuation based primarily on the number of clicks to a domain. Other web analytics can be factored into the valuation. The company has patents and patents pending in Korea and China, Europe, Japan, and the U.S.
"I saw the relationship between content providers and search engines as the fundamental flaw of the web," said Seuk Weon Song, CEO and Founder of Ecobe "There's no incentive for a newspaper, blogger, or wiki to make better content because that effort doesn't translate into more revenue or recognition. Major search engines, such as Google, keep most of the search engine ad-revenue instead of sharing it with individual sites or pages. According to eMarketer, the total U.S. market online advertising revenue for 2011 was US$32 billion and estimated to reach US$62 billion by 2016.
Fund raising to date totals US $1.07m, angel round, enabling the company to develop the product for launch.
