EVS Debuts IP Director for the Golden Globes Red CarpetUnique to the Golden Globe workflow (February 03, 2006)
The 63rd annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles provided an ideal scenario for E! Networks to utilize EVS technology for the live, day-long broadcast along the "Red Carpet".
Driven by 3 six-channel XT live/studio production and playout servers in a 4 in/2 out configuration, 8 independent cameras roamed the Red Carpet capturing celebrities' arrivals, interviews, processional, and mingling between the stars.
Unique to the Golden Globe workflow was the addition of EVS' IP Director suite of video production management software that managed the network of the 3 XT servers: Two operators, each assigned to log the action of 4 cameras as it unfolded, used dedicated, attached IP Director stations on XNet - EVS' high speed communications network. Once logged, the Producer in the replay area was then able to search and browse clips, or create new clips residing on the networked XTs which never missed a piece of the action as they continuously loop record. Either the XT operators or the producer's IP Director then moved these clips into a playlist a vignette of clips created of a special star, the group of actresses wearing red dresses, or all up-do hairstyles as examples. Once assembled on the network, one of the three XT operators would cue-up and send the compiled playlist to air. A fourth IP Director station was placed in the production area for others to view clips captured to the same system.
The powerful combination of XT and IP Director are blazing new inroads into the entertainment and studio marketplaces as the demand for more flexible workflows increases.
