ERG Ventures Unveils HDM-EV35D HDTV MonitorERG honored with awards at NAB Convention (June 15, 2004)
ERG Ventures Co., Ltd., fresh off rave reviews at the recent NAB convention in Las Vegas, has introduced the HDM-EV35D 6 monitor, it was announced today by Mr. Mitsutaka Yoshida, President and CEO of ERG. The six-inch LCD monitor for HDTV or SDTV is similar to the HDM-EV30D, its predecessor, except its analog components have been removed.
The monitor comes into production on the heels of ERGs HDM-EV80D 8.4 monitor, which was recently honored with the Vidy Award from Videography Magazine and a Pick Hit award from Millimeter Magazine, given annually to select products at the NAB convention for outstanding performance and quality.
The HDM-EV35D has two systems of video input, HDSDI and the SDTV analog composite. The active LCD area has a 960 x 540 resolution, and displays 16.77 million colors by having 8 bits per RGB. As a result, the monitor can naturally display its images when receiving signals from the HDTV 1080 since it does not need to make any conversions to other resolutions. The HDM-EV35D is also 9mm thinner and 300 grams lighter than the HDM-EV30D.
The design of the HDM-EV35D is aimed at portable outdoor use, with the display functions placed on the front of the monitor, making the use of cases and monitor hoods easier. The right side consists of operational buttons, with the input/output connectors on the left. The input/output connectors use the BNC connector (for HDSDI systems) and the 12-pin multi-connector (for analog systems), eliminating the troublesome task of connecting the three BNC connectors.
Another feature of the HDM35D monitor is that many of the important parts, like the LCD and the BNC connectors, are stored in the most inner parts in order to prevent damage from collision or impact. In addition, there are multipurpose M3 taps placed on all sides (except the front) so that the user can install various instruments. And, the rear heat sink, which is one of HDM-EV35D's visible characteristics, does not use the conventional air fans that are prone to failure.
Other characteristics of the HDM-35D include: each LCD is shipped after color adjustment; optimized to reduce the incompatibility between the CRT and the LCD; large-size tally signal light for easy viewing; Color Temperature controls (6500K and 9300K); wide variety of marker indicators; Aspect Ratio function correctly displays the recorded original image; masking function masks out the region outside of the image area with a 4:3 or 16:9 ratio; Gamma Adjustment function correctly lightens the image to help facilitate the monitoring process; Peaking Indicator helps focusing when shooting; Screen Capture/Picture Freezing temporarily freezes the screen when needed.
?We were delighted with the response we received at the NAB Convention and were flattered to be honored with awards from Videography and Millimeter magazines, said Mr. Yoshida. ?We are proud of our technological advances and we will strive to continue making the finest monitors possible so our partners in the film and video industries can create the finest quality productions possible.
