ERG Ventures' HDM-EV80D Monitor Aids HD ProductionThe perfect companion for HD cinematographers (November 23, 2004)
The award-winning ERG HDM-EV80D 8.4 HD monitor, which has been widely adopted in the broadcasting, post-production, and editing industries since its debut, will offer cinematographers the only HD monitor on the market that is able to flip the image right-side up.
When shooting with the Panavision system through a Canon ACV235 Anamorphic Lens Converter, the image is compressed from an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 to a standard HD aspect ratio of 16.9 (1.78:1). But, since the image is presented upside down, it makes it difficult for directors, camerapersons and others to view the image. The HDM-EV80D is able to flip the image right-side up with its revolutionary flip-image function and aspect ratio adjustment feature. Thus, the image will be adjusted to the exact aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The HDM-EV80D monitor is the first to offer this feature.
The ERG HDM-EV80D will be used with the Canon ACV235 in Japan this year for the upcoming blockbuster movie, Odoru Daisosasen, or ?Bayside Shakedown in English.
?I am very grateful that the HDM-EV80D HD monitor has been used not only by many of the broadcasting and post-production professionals, but also by many filmmakers. We are pleased to contribute to HD cinematography with our HDM-EV80D HD monitor, said Mr. MitsutakaYoshida, CEO and President of ERG Ventures. ?If you are a user of the Canon ACV235, you will be amazed at how simple it is to view your image with the help of our monitor. At ERG, we are constantly seeking ways to remain on the cutting-edge of technology from the industry professional standpoint.
The HDM-EV80D also offers the following: enhanced color, gamma adjustment functions, additional framing markers, and a convenient memory preset function. It serves as a rack mount monitor that can easily be adapted for location shoots, and the monitors HD/SD inputs can be intermingled. Because the HDM-EV80D has four inputs, it is ideal for creating a system.
With its DC output, wiring two monitors consecutively from one DC unit is made simple. Some of the other revolutionary qualities of the HDM-EV80D are: a front-panel volume adjustment; a 4 input/1output which makes it useful on locations when multiple cameras are used (events, dramas, sports, news, etc.); an energy-saving feature, which uses only 1/4 battery of a cathode-ray tube type monitor; and its compact size (6.93 x 8.43 x 2.36). The HDM-EV80D is currently widely used in the post-production and editing industries as well as the video production, film production and commercial production industries by such professionals as Directors of Photography, camera operators, and engineers.
