EFI To Launch New Color Server Platforms

Updated inkjet proofing solutions also set to debut next week By Dave Nagel
Electronics for Imaging (EFI) today announced that it will debut new color server platforms at next week's Graph Expo in Chicago. These include the Fiery S300 and S500, which will feature a new version of the company's Fiery system software. EFI will also be launching new versions of its inkjet printing solutions.

EFI calls the new S300 and S500 its most powerful color servers to date. Few details were available at press time. The S300 is optimized for production of continuous tone color pages on a variety of mid-range color copiers, EFI says, and the S500 is designed for printing complex variable data and imposed pages. Both will use the new Fiery 5.5 system software.

Also at the show, EFI will also debut new versions of its inkjet proofing solutions designed specifically for commercial printers. These include Best Colorproof 5.0, Best Screenproof 5.0 and Best Designer Edition 3.0. The company will also demonstrate its Velocity line of workflow solutions, including new features in Velocity OneFlow for combining DI, CTP, inkjet and other printing methods in a single workflow, and a new version of Velocity Balance, designed for distributed printing. With the merger between EFI and Printcafe approaching this fall, the two companies will also be co-demonstrating support for the JDF (Job Definition FOrmat) standard, which EFI and Printcafe are incorporating into their products.

All of EFI's new technologies will be on display Sept. 28 through Oct. 1 at the Graph Expo, taking place at McCormick Place in Chicago. For more information, visit
